Life
And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered. But most of all, I learned that life is about sitting on benches next to ancient creeks with my hand on her knee and sometimes, on good days, for falling in love.
And I know I have spent every life before this searching for you. Not someone like you, but you, for your soul and mine must always come together.

People come, people go – they’ll drift in and out of your life, almost like characters in a favorite book. When you finally close the cover, the characters have told their story and you start up again with another book, complete with new characters and adventures. Then you find yourself focusing on the new ones, not the ones from the past.
For strange effects and extraordinary combinations we must go to life itself, which is always far more daring than any effort of the imagination.

A vida, acredita, não é um sonho
Tão negro quanto os sábios dizem ser.
Freqüentemente uma manhã cinzenta
Prenuncia uma tarde agradável e soalhenta.
Às vezes há nuvens sombrias
Mas é apenas em certos dias;
Se a chuvada faz as rosas florir
Ó porquê lamentar e não sorrir?
Rapidamente, alegremente
As soalhentas horas da vida vão passando
Agradecidamente, animadamente
Goza-as enquanto vão voando.
E quando por vezes a morte aparece
E consigo o que de melhor temos desaparece?
E quando a dor se aprofunda
E a esperança vencida se afunda?
Oh, mesmo então a esperança há-de renascer,
Inconquistável, sem nunca morrer.
Alegre com a sua asa dourada
Suficientemente forte para nos fazer sentir bem
Corajosamente, sem medo de nada
Enfrenta o dia do julgamento que vem.
Porque gloriosamente, vitoriosamente
Pode a coragem o desespero vencer.
Você não pode não se importar com coisas com as quais realmente se importa. Você não pode se enganar.
