Ancestral Poetry We are Brazilians, born... Jacilene Arruda

Ancestral Poetry

We are Brazilians, born of migrations.
We arrived in this land once called Pindorama,
where those who crossed Bering
had already planted roots in the vast forest.

We are a blend of many regions,
welcoming, energetic, diverse.
In our culture there are no borders,
only encounters, only arms that open wide.

In our cuisine, spices intertwine,
flavors dance, traditions reinvent themselves.
We carry roots nourished in distant lands,
woven together with the roots that flourish here.

We are Brazilians with fervor,
not superior, but unique:
the result of divine creation,
a living expression of the universe.
